20% Project
My 20% Project is about cancer. It shows different types of cancer, what forms cancer, and different facts about types of cancer.
My topic (cancer) relates to science because it has to do with the human body and how it works. For example: It shows how some bad cells pass along the process with good cells. The bad cells multiply uncontrollably creating bumps in the skin. Those bumps may be cancerous tumors.
One reason I chose this project is because I found it interesting that cancer is a big reason of why most people in the world die. I find it unbelievable that cancer has been around since multicellular life (more than 5,000 years ago) and scientist still haven’t found a cure. Another reason I chose this project is because cancer runs in my dad’s side of the family. If I ever get cancer, I would like to know what is happening inside my body and why it’s happening.
What I did for my project was, first, I researched how many cancer types there are in the world (more than 100 types). Second, I chose very few of those cancer types and did research on all of them. As I researched them, I chose some of the facts from different types and wrote them in my science notebook. Then I wrote those facts on a poster and organized my poster by the information I wrote down.
My conclusion is that I did really good on my project. I learned a lot about cancer and didn’t know there were more than 100 different types. I will be presenting my poster to my class and I will explain to them how cancer is created and read them some of the facts I thought were interesting. Maybe they will learn something and find cancer as interesting as I did.
